Paris Hilton was famously grilled by David Letterman on Friday by peppering her with some awkward and controversial questions – something the hotel heiress will have to get used to.

Letterman, 60, greeted her in polite fashion – but what was to follow would shock audiences around the US as well as the actress herself.

People.com reports how the events took a turn for the worse.

Letterman abruptly asked: “Uh, how’d you like being in jail?” Audience members gasped and laughed as Hilton, 26, paused for a few seconds before saying, “Not too much.”

About Hilton’s own experience behind bars, Letterman asked: “Tell us now looking back on that experience, what have we learned? What can you tell us?” Hilton shifted in her seat before answering, “Well, obviously it was a very traumatic experience, but I did it, so I feel like I can do anything now.”

After grilling her about the food – dinner, Hilton said, was normally “jail mystery meat” – Letterman kept going: “So what was it you did? Do you know what you did?” Obviously uncomfortable, Hilton stared at Letterman and laughed nervously. “It was something about driving with an invalid license, wasn’t it?” Letterman said. “Yeah,” Hilton answered.

After facing a continued barrage of jail-related questions, Hilton, who was on the show to promote her new fragrance Can-Can and her upcoming movie, Repo! The Genetic Opera, said, “I don’t really want to talk about it anymore.” But Letterman would not be swayed. “This is where you and I are different. Because this is all I want to talk about,” he said.

As Letterman continued to press, Hilton held up her hand: “I’m going on the next question. I’m over it.”

At one point a crowd member yelled, “I love you Paris!” which she answered by saying, “I love you too,” and blowing a kiss. Quipped Letterman, “Somebody you met in prison?” Hilton, blushing, shook her head no.

“There’s other stuff to talk about Dave,” Hilton said. “I didn’t come here to talk about this. That was a long time ago.”

Finally, after more than six minutes of grilling, Hilton said Letterman was making her “sad that I came here.” Trying to make amends, Letterman offered: “I’ll buy you a parakeet.”

David Beckham to blame for father’s heart attack?

Ted Beckham

Ted Beckham has revealed to the Sunday Mirror how his heavy workload was the cause of his heart attack, and being a gas fitter, was having to work weekends to make enough money to pay the bills.

The 59-year-old told the newspaper: I don’t get a penny from anyone – I earn my own living. I’m a proud man and I have bills to pay like anyone else. I am working more now, and I am also turning out in the evenings to get some extra cash.

“The last thing I want to do is upset David, so I don’t like to say anything. He’s busy with his life and that’s fine. People always think because of who my son is I should be living in a bigger house and not be working but I don’t ask for anything from anyone.”

He told a friend he rarely receives gifts from his multimillionaire son, but he did accept a £20,000 Jaguar three years ago.

“Everyone’s got to make a living and I’m no different,” he added. “I’m getting older, though, and it’s harder to put in the hours.”

A friend said: “Ted’s on his own the whole time. He gets back from work and just pops something in the microwave to eat.”

Ted, divorced from David’s mother, has not received any help from his multi-millionaire son it seems, whose selfishness has payed, but was it Victoria?

David Beckham’s dad struggling for money

Ted Beckham

David Beckham’s dad, Ted Beckham was reportedly working all the hours god was sending – in order to make ends meet in the lead up to his near-fatal heart attack earlier this week.

According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Beckham senior had told friends he was struggling for money, and had also confided about his loneliness following David and the family’s recent move to Los Angeles.

Ted Beckham, 59 has said that he spends most nights at home and survives on microwave meals.

He told reporters: “I don’t get a penny from anyone – I earn my own living.

He told also told friends that it’s rare he receives gifts from his soccer star son, but he did accept a $40,000 Jaguar three years ago.

“Everyone’s got to make a living and I’m no different,” he added. “I’m getting older, though, and it’s harder to put in the hours.”

A friend said: “Ted’s on his own the whole time. He gets back from work and just pops something in the microwave to eat.”

A friend of the Beckham family said: “Ted is quite old-fashioned in his ways. He thinks of David as a footballer and the thought of his son as a style icon makes him cringe.

“And he believes Victoria doesn’t like him. He thinks he doesn’t fit into her ideal image and it’s just easier if he stays away.

“Ted feels that it is all about her parents and since his divorce from David’s mother Sandra he feels even more pushed out.”

59 year old Ted is said to have a history of chest problems & angina and has already suffered a mini heart attack.

Another pal said: “Ted used to coach some of the smaller local boys’ teams in his spare time but now, as he’s started working evenings, he doesn’t really have time.”

Friends have also noticed Ted becoming increasingly withdrawn. One said: “Nowadays Ted’s too scared to speak to anyone in case he upsets David.

“He’s so proud of his son and all his achievements and desperately wants to be back in his life.

“He was the one who taught David how to play football. He was the one who pushed his son to get to where he’s got. He was and still is his number one fan. But that’s what he feels like now – a fan. Rather than a father. He rarely sees his son. The first he hears about things is in the papers.”

A friend of David’s said: “David does support his father and has paid off his mortgage. There have been disagreements in the past but they have been reconciled for a long time. Ted was at the last game in Madrid and the Chelsea game in LA.”

Angelina Jolie to go solo without Pitt in the future

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie has revealed that she will not be playing any more future role with husband Brad Pitt, after meeting on the set of ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’.

Jolie has said that she wants to bring up her four children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh. The star is reluctant to let baby sitters look after the children, so the pair will have to mix and match in that department.

The devoted parents have made a pact that only one of them works while the other cares for the children.

Angelina said: “We won’t work together again, because who would be there to watch the children if we did?!”

The Oscar-winning actress – who has admitted to sometimes getting help with the childcare – says she and Bard want to be as hands-on as possible because she doesn’t trust other people easily.

She said: “I think that every parent worries that something will happen to their child. It’s not that I distrust everyone, it’s just that I don’t walk around with complete faith, openness and trust.”
