Lindsay Lohan tried to sell photographs of her family Thanksgiving dinner

Lindsay LohanActress Lindsay Lohan tried to sell photographs of her family’s Thanksgiving dinner, it has been claimed.

According to reports, Lohan, 21, allegedly offered several celebrity magazines staged pictures of her with mother Dina, sister Ali, her brothers and boyfriend Riley Giles celebrating the holidays.

The ‘Mean Girls’ star initially demanded a six-figure sum, but eventually dropped the price to $20,000 when she failed to find a buyer.

A source told MSNBC: “She thinks she’s a huge star. She thinks everyone is dying to read about her, but she’s lost her fan base. Her decisions are being driven by cash, not repairing her image.”

Lohan reportedly failed to shift the pictures, but made some money from her family shopping trip to New York’s Armani Exchange and Intermix store on November 23.

It has also been claimed that Lohan tipped off the paparazzi she would be there and was paid to visit the clothing store.

The source added: “It seems like everything Lindsay does is to make money.”

Hostage drama at Hillary Clinton’s New Hampshire campaign office

Hillary Clinton campaign officeAn armed man has reportedly taken two campaign workers hostage at Hillary Clinton’s New Hampshire campaign office.

American news outlets are reporting that a man walked into the office of the Democratic presidential candidate in Rochester, New Hampshire, and claimed to have a bomb with him.

“A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, ‘You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,’” the WMUR-TV station quoted a woman called Lettie Tzikik as saying.

Armed police in the town have surrounded Clinton’s building and evacuated the immediate area. Clinton is not in New Hampshire today, but is campaigning in Virginia.

It is not known how many campaign volunteers were in the office when the incident occurred.

U.S news networks are now reporting that reporters have witnessed one of the two hostages, a female, being escorted out of Hillary Clinton’s office by a SWAT team member.

It has also been reported that the remaining one hostage may also have been released.

The armed man is described as in his 40s with salt and pepper hair, and was said to have demanded to speak to Hillary Clinton.

There were initially four adults and a six-month-old child in the office but two of the adults and the child were immediately allowed to leave the office.

The armed man at the centre of the Hillary Clinton bomb threat in Rochester, New Hampshire, is reportedly a local man with a history of mental illness.

U.S news networks say that the hostage taker, whose name has been given as Troy Stanley, told his son, Troy Stanley Jr., ‘to watch the news today.’

One eyewitness told FOX News that Stanley had told people in the town he had ‘a bug implanted in his head.’

The hostage taker remains holed up in side the Clinton office after releasing all of the hostages.

Elizabeth Taylor: Young people do not believe they are at risk of getting HIV

Elizabeth TaylorYoung people do not believe they are at risk of getting HIV, says actress Elizabeth Taylor on World AIDS Day.

The Hollywood icon made her statement in a newspaper column with the headline: “In AIDS pandemic, ‘No one is immune’.”

She told USA Today readers: “So what do we do while we wait for a cure?

“Talk to a young person. We have a generation of young people who do not believe they are at risk, who do not believe they need to use a condom, who cannot remember a time when drugs were not available to treat HIV.

“And we must have hope for all humankind: No one is isolated from this pandemic and no one is immune.”

Dame Taylor’s statements come at a time when the world focuses on the spread of AIDS. Taylor, 75, founder of the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and co-founder of The Foundation for AIDS Research, wrote about the changing face of the disease in the US – where 25 years ago it was initially associated with gay men.

She says: “While the UN and CDC [The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] say the percentage of people worldwide living with HIV has plateaued [sic] and new infections have fallen, at home [in the US] the black community is especially vulnerable. “African-Americans, who make up 12 per cent of the US population, account for nearly 50 per cent of all infections, according to the CDC.

“The rate of HIV/AIDS diagnoses for black women is 20 times the rate for white women.”

This picture, the actress notes, is in stark contrast to the early days of the illness when it was widely associated with gay men. “Terms like ‘gay cancer’ sent shockwaves throughout the nation,” she wrote. “No one knew what this was or how to stop it.”

Dame Taylor was spurred on to raise awareness of the disease when it struck her friend and former co-star Rock Hudson. The actor, who died in October 1985 aged 59, hid his homosexuality for most of his acting career. But when Taylor turned to Hollywood to join her in her fight against the disease she says she was met with the cold shoulder. She says: “I knew this crisis needed attention and money to create public, governmental and media awareness.

“When I first started fundraising back then, the entertainment industry shied away – the stigma was great.

“Since then – well, the statistics are staggering.”

She adds: “Today, I am heartened to see so many talented artists join this fight.

“Supporting World AIDS Day on Saturday carries no stigma in 2007.

“The world now recognises the threat that HIV/AIDS poses to all of our lives.”

Amy Winehouse was not kicked out of stage school, according to Sylvia Young

Amy WinehouseSylvia Young, Amy Winehouse’s former headmistress, has insisted that the troubled singer was not kicked out of her stage school.

“‘I want to make it absolutely clear that she [Amy] was not expelled,” she says.

But Sylvia, however, did say that Amy, 24, was always a bit of a handful.

“She didn’t wear the school uniform correctly. She chewed gum in lessons. She wore a silver nose-ring,’ Sylvia tells Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper.

“She could be disruptive in class, too,” she added.

Amy dreamed of notoriety from a young age, despite telling German magazine ‘Stern’ that she never asked to become a household name.

“I have this dream to be very famous,” wrote 13-year-old Amy in her application essay to the Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Other celebrity ex-pupils of the academy include Emma Bunton, Billie Piper and Leona Lewis.

Full time fees for the Sylvia Young Theatre School range from $4,000 a term ($12,000 a year) to $5,88 a term ($16,800 a year) depending on the child’s age.
