ADAM Lambert plans to incorporate leather, chains and handcuffs into his performance at the American Music Awards.

The flamboyant American Idol runner-up will sing a sexed-up rendition of For Your Entertainment, the first single off his upcoming album of the same name — and Lambert can’t wait to see how the star-studded crowd responds.

“I can’t wait to see people I look up to as artists in the audience watching,” Lambert said Friday.

“I think that will be a trip, and exciting and motivating all at the same time.

“It will be really interesting to see what kind of reaction the number gets. It’s different. It really does have an edge to it.”

The performance also includes Lambert dragging a shackled woman across the stage.

Other artists set to perform at the 37th annual American Music Awards include Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Green Day, Lil’ Wayne, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Keith Urban, Jay-Z and Carrie Underwood.

Lambert, 27, recently insisted he’s just being himself with his “androgynous” look.

“Even on Idol, I wear my eyeliner and my black clothes, my little rocker outfits,” said the stylish star. “That’s just how I’ve always dressed over the past couple of years. You can label it however you want — androgynous, glam, emo, Goth. We can put a bunch of different labels on it but I’m just being myself.”

ADAM Lambert has been in only two relationships — and he’s been “really in love just the once.

The American Idol runner-up — who recently split from beau Drake LaBry – says he’s currently uncertain of his romantic path.

“My life has changed so much, I’m not sure what my needs are anymore,” Lambert said in an interview with the USA Today newspaper. “At the moment, it’s probably difficult to have a relationship.

“I’m going to be doing a lot of growing in the next couple years. I’ve only been in two relationships, and really, really in love just one time. That’s one part of my life I’m learning about — my heart.”

Lambert, 27, recently revealed that he’s “constantly f*cking buying music”.

“I’m a freak with iTunes,” he told Rolling Stone magazine. “I’m constantly f*cking buying music. I love listening to whatever’s new and fresh, and I’ll go back and explore.

“I went through a period of time where all I was listening to was stuff from the late Sixties, the whole flower power f*ckin’ psychedelic hippie-type music, like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Beatles. I remember at one point I was listening to a lot of disco. I love disco music, anyone who doesn’t love disco, I don’t know?

“I love dance music, I’ve always loved dance music. I think anything with a good beat that makes you feel like getting ready for the evening, going to work, in the gym, it’s inspiring, it makes you feel good. It makes you move and it makes you want to feel sexy and flirt with somebody and have a drink. There’s a lot of that on the record, because I love that.”

ADAM Lambert never had to come out of the closet — because he was never in it!

The American Idol runner-up who declared, “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay” in a June issue of Rolling Stone magazine — says he has never been ashamed of his sexuality — but he doesn’t want it to define him.

“There was never any deliberate, like, ‘I’m going to hint now…’ because I was never in the closet,” Lambert told MTV of his performances on Idol.

“When those pictures [of me dressed in drag and kissing an ex-boyfriend] came out online, I got freaked out.

“I was like, ‘Great, that’s going to f**k things up’. ‘Cause I just figured, you know, this is a national television programme and people are conservative in our country, aside from LA and New York and a couple of other places.”

“I think the whole magic of this moment is that I’m not alienating anybody,” Adam added. “I’m not trying to, anyway. I want as many people to feel like they can like the music.

“I don’t want to edit myself to the point where I feel like I don’t have integrity… It’s almost like being a political figure. It’s like a balancing act.”

The 27-year-old — who releases his debut album later this month — says he can understand why some people are disappointed with him for not being more open about his sexuality from the beginning.

“It’s a hard thing that everybody’s going to have their opinion about,” he said. “Some people in the gay community might look at it like, ‘You really should’ve owned that. You didn’t hide it, but you didn’t admit it and that’s weak’.

“My whole point is, I’m not trying to lead the f**king way for the civil rights movement that we’re in right now. I just happen to be a gay man – and I’m not ashamed of that at all.”

Speaking to OUT magazine, the American Idol runner-up — who releases his debut album later this month — says he gave a girl oral and it was “gross” because her vagina wasn’t very clean.

“Oral,” Lambert declared when asked if he’s ever had sex with a girl. “It was a little gross because I don’t think she was as clean as she could’ve been. It wasn’t the act of it that really turned me off.

“I don’t really remember. I was 18 and I was drunk. Or maybe I was 17… The point of the matter is that I would not rule it out. The idea is intriguing.

“I will make out with a girl at a bar. I mean, after a couple of drinks. That’s why I say I’m curious. There are gay guys that gag and go ‘eww’ at the thought of having sex with a girl. I’m curious about it, because I’ve never done it.

“Being curious and embracing that curiosity is all a part of what I’m about. You don’t have to be any one thing. You can kinda just be. Just live your life — and play.”

ADAM Lambert wants to get some more tattoos.

The American Idol runner-up says he’s keen to add a new inking to his body — he just isn’t sure what.

“I haven’t gotten any new tattoos recently,” the star told Rolling Stone magazine. “I thought about it. I need to find something that I want first. I’m not sure what else I want to put on my body, but I’d like to.”

It gave me a lot of confidence going out there in my glitter platforms, thinking that Fergie thought I was cool. That felt good.”

“I’ll be dressed, but there will probably be some people that are pretty sexy — yeah!”

The American Idol runner-up’s Time for Miracles features on the movie, which hit theaters Wednesday.

“It’s been pretty wild because I didn’t think I would get as far as Idol at all,” Lambert said of his success since appearing on the TV talent show. “Every week that I got through, I was like, really, they voted for me again? So each time I thanked my lucky stars and just did what I do.

“I just didn’t expect all the support that I’ve been getting and it’s been really amazing, very flattering and very exciting because I’ve been working towards this type of career the 10 years that I’ve lived in Los Angeles. I’ve been working toward this so I feel like it’s all added up into this moment.

“As soon as Idol ended, I was busy that month, already working on my album, with different producers, doing writing sessions and then the opportunity came up for the 2012 song. Alain and Natasha’s demo for it was this beautiful melody, just a beautiful acoustic kind of rock feel and then with (producer) Rob Cavallo, we made it like an epic kind of rock power ballad that I’m very proud of.”
