Angelina Jolie Back in Contact With Dad

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie is rebuilding her relationship with her estranged father Jon Voight.

The pair fell out several years ago when Voight told a TV interviewer Jolie had “severe emotional problems”.

But the Tomb Raider star says she and Jon are now back in contact.

“We’re in contact now and writing letters,” Jolie told British newspaper The Sun. “My parents gave me a strong social conscience as well as any acting genes I may have.

“Both my parents were very focused on helping other people and supported charities all their lives.”

Jolie — who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt — says her kids’ childhoods will be very different to her own.

“I don’t want them raised as children who have ‘movie star’ parents,” she said.

“I grew up around that myself and I want to make sure ours are removed from it.”

Voight Roots For Jolie in Oscar Race

Jon Voight has revealed who he’s rooting in for in this year’s Oscar race – his estranged daughter Angelina Jolie.

The 33-year-old is nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, and will go up against Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married); Melissa Leo (Frozen River); Meryl Streep (Doubt); and Kate Winslet (The Reader).

And although Jolie and Voight reportedly haven’t spoken in some time, the actor is hopeful his superstar offspring will take home a gong.

He says, “She may get the Oscar, who knows? I would like it and I’m rooting for that.”

Jon, 70, also praised Brad Pitt for is portrayal of Benjamin Button in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. “I thought Brad was brilliant in it,” he says. “The piece was brilliant.”

The Academy Awards will air on ABC, Sunday, February 22.

Jolie and Pitt have scored nods at every major awards show this year, including the Golden Globes.

Jon Voight Desperate to Reconcile With Angelina Jolie

Jon Voight is desperate to end his bitter feud with his superstar daughter Angelina Jolie.

The pair fell out in August 2002 after Voight claimed that his daughter had “serious emotional problems”. Jolie later indicated that she no longer wished to pursue a relationship with her father, and said, “My father and I don’t speak. I don’t hold any anger toward him. I don’t believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted, and families are earned.”

But Jon is now eager to reconcile with Angelina and meet his six grandchildren – three of whom are adopted – and her partner Brad Pitt for the first time.

Voight has said, “I’m always trying to reach her and send her my love.”

A source tells Britain’s Daily Express newspaper, “There’s nothing Jon wants more than to have his family back together again.

“It kills him to be shunned by his children. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to put this rift behind him.

“As Jon grows older he’s realizing the importance of family, and longs to be a part of his daughter and grandchildren’s lives. It breaks his heart to be kept away.

“Since Angelina’s mother [Marcheline Bertrand] died, Brad Pitt has been gently urging her to reconcile with her father, if not for her sake, then so the children can have their grandfather in their life.”

Voight Upset Over Vice-President-to-be’s Scandal

Actor JON VOIGHT has been caught on camera choking back tears again – this time over the scandal surrounding U.S. politician SARAH PALIN’s pregnant teen.

The emotional actor, who fell out with his daughter Angelina Jolie after making a dramatic TV appeal for her to seek help for an alleged mental issue, was asked for his opinion about the Alaskan governor and potential U.S. Vice-President’s predicament by Access Hollywood reporters at the Republican National Convention – and he struggled to keep his composure.

Voight, a fan of Republican Senator John McCain – who chose Palin as his running mate on Friday (29Aug08), says, “Like all families, they have their dramas and I’m sure they’re taking care of it nicely.

Holding back tears, the actor added, “I think about the daughter and what she’s going through. All the fear and trauma and the worry… I feel for her. I wanna take care of her.”

Palin’s daughter Bristol, 17, is reportedly four months pregnant.

Jon Voight Hits Out At Roseanne Barr’s Attack on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie’s actor dad Jon Voight has blasted TV star Roseanne Barr for her “evil” attack on his daughter and her partner Brad Pitt.

In a posting on Barr’s website, the comedienne apparently slammed the Hollywood super-couple for making millions while starring in “violent, psychopathic” movies – but only giving away a small part of their paycheques to charity.

The writer then took a swipe at the pair for not publicly pledging support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, before adding: “Now go back to making your movies about women who love to handle big guns that shoot hundreds of people to death.”

Voight is livid with the attack on his daughter – and claims Barr is suffering from the trauma of being abused as a child, reports Us Weekly magazine.

He says, “We can never be surprised at what vile evil comes from the mouth of a confessed victim of child abuse at the hands of her own parents.

“(Roseanne’s) parents responded to the accusation by going on the air and slating she is a psychopathic liar and her sister agreed.”

Roseanne Barr Slams Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie

Roseanne Barr has launched a scathing attack on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – branding them “evil”.

In a post on the TV star’s website, apparently written by Barr, the writer slams the Hollywood couple for making millions while starring in “violent, psychopathic” movies – but only giving away a small part of their paychecks to charity.

In the message, titled Jon Voight in reference to Jolie’s actor dad, the writer fumes, “Your evil spawn Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about $40 million a year in violent, psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children, trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more.

“Miss Jolie says she likes John McCain too and hasn’t decided who to endorse… Huh? Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the African daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the Republican party’s worldwide economic assault on Africa over the last few decades since Reagan?”

The writer then takes a swipe at the pair for not publicly pledging support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, before adding: “Now go back to making your movies about women who love to handle big guns that shoot hundreds of people to death.”

Angelina Jolie: ‘I Have Not Decided on Presidential Candidate’

Angelina Jolie can’t decide on a presidential candidate.

The Hollywood star — who gave birth to twins in July — remains on the fence when it comes to the presidential election.

“I have not decided on a candidate,” the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, 33, says in a statement to Variety. “I am waiting to see the commitments they will make on issues like international justice, refugees and how to address the needs of children in crisis around the world.”

Jolie’s partner, Brad Pitt, has not officially endorsed John McCain or Barack Obama, either.

Earlier this year, researchers revealed that Obama, 47, and Pitt, 44, are ninth cousins.

Joked Obama, “I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool.”

Although Jolie hasn’t decided who to back in the race for America’s next leader, her actor dad, Jon Voight, made his feelings quite clear in a recent Op-Ed, saying Obama “falls short in every way.”

“The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way,” Voight, 69, wrote in the Washington Times. “It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

“There’s not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb.”

Angelina Jolie’s Dad Has Baby Gifts Airlifted to France

Angelina Jolie’s relationship with her father, Jon Voight, is clearly back on track.

The 69-year-old — who was estranged from his daughter for years — reportedly bought gifts (via an assistant, natch) for her newborn twins – Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline – and had them airlifted to France, says a source familiar with the purchase.

“The gift baskets contained products from Bunnies by the Bay: their blankets, outfits, bibs, toys and bunnies,” the source says.

According to the source, a note was included, but Voight didn’t refer to himself as “Grandpa”. It is said to have read, “Dear Vivienne and Knox — Bienvenue! xx JV.”

Jolie became estranged from her father in 2005, after Voight claimed that his daughter had “serious emotional problems” on Access Hollywood. The Tomb Raider star later indicated that she no longer wished to pursue a relationship with her father, and said, “My father and I don’t speak. I don’t hold any anger toward him. I don’t believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted, and families are earned.”

Angelina Jolie’s Dad: ‘She and Brad Pitt Have no Privacy’

Angelina Jolie’s actor dad Jon Voight has spoken out against the constant paparazzi attention his superstar daughter and her partner Brad Pitt constantly receive.

“[There] always has been – they have no privacy,” he said at the Los Angeles premiere of comedy movie Pineapple Express. “It’s very difficult for them. This [premiere] is a thing where you show up and meet fans and it’s all very playful and nice.

“But when you’re just trying to do your daily chores and live your life and people are all over you trying to climb out of cars and windows, it’s not so healthy.”

But the secret to surviving the pitfalls of fame, according to the 69-year-old actor, known for films such as The Manchurian Candidate and Transformers, is to maintain a down-to-earth attitude.

“In order to survive this you have to have your feet on the ground in some way,” he said.

“Family is very helpful – it’s always the best thing. If you have good family members and friends that will tell you the truth then you’re very fortunate.”

Voight Surprised Jolie Became A Mother

ANGELINA JOLIE’s dad JON VOIGHT is amazed his daughter is now a mother of six – because she had no interest in kids when she was younger.

The pair recently reconciled after a long rift, which started when Voight told a TV interviewer Jolie had “severe emotional problems”.

And Voight is looking forward to meeting his new grandchildren; Knox and Vivienne – Jolie and partner Brad Pitt’s fifth and sixth children.

But the Midnight Cowboy star never expected Jolie to be a mother to so many. He says, “You know she wasn’t the kind that played with dolls and then all of the sudden she has all of these children.

“She loves kids though. Very playful. It’s wonderful.”
