Ryan Reynolds will dress as a woman in his next movie.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor is set to take on the lead role in an as-yet untitled movie which will see his character disguise himself in drag in order to befriend his ex-girlfriend in a bid to win her back.

According to industry publication Variety, Ryan — who will next shoot superhero movie The Green Lantern — will also serve as executive producer on the project, which does not yet have a director.

The script is being penned by Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps scribe Allan Loeb.

No further casting information has been given.

In addition to the cross-dressing caper, it was recently reported that Ryan is set to take over from Tom Cruise in Motorcade after the Mission Impossible star dropped out of the project to appear opposite Cameron Diaz in Wichita.

The action thriller sees the actor — who is married to Scarlett Johannson — playing a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the US president is kidnapped in New York.

Ryan Reynolds refuses to read about himself online — because he’s worried about what he’ll find.

The Hollywood hunk — who’s married to actress Scarlett Johansson — says he used to read his fans’ websites, but gave up after it got too weird.

“I have read about myself online before,” he said. “It’s a horrible thing to do. It’s been a great equalizer because the last time I did, I found a couple of websites that are real.

“One was ‘Make Ryan Reynolds Your Biatch’. I didn’t get into it too much because I know there are going to be photo-shopped pictures of me with a ball gag and nipple clamps.”

Ryan recently revealed that he and Scarlett are planning to adopt.

“My oldest brother is adopted and I have every intention of adopting at some time,” he told Britain’s Glamour magazine in July. “I’m very grateful for having my brother in my life. I couldn’t be more pro-adoption. There are plenty of kids in the world that need it.”

“We have quite a few stacks of comic books. We’re in completely different universes but it’s fun to get into that whole world together even if there is quite a stack of comic books taking up space.”

It was recently claimed that Reynolds has turned to his The Proposal costar Sandra Bullock to help him save his marriage to Johansson.

“Ryan and Scarlett have been going through a rough patch,” a snitch told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “Sandra is helping them weather it. She told them that every marriage has its problems — hers included.

According to a report from Fox News, the couple — who married in Canada on September 27, 2008 — were seen arguing at the recent Comic-Con sci-fi convention.

Scarlett, there to discuss her new role as Black Widow in Iron Man 2, was set to appear on her panel with Robert Downey Jr. and other cast members. Ryan was just cast as the lead in Green Lantern, a Warner Brothers flick.

“They got in a huge fight just before they were going to Comic Con,” a source revealed.

“It caused such a rift between them that Ryan refused to attend the conference and he told Scarlett she could go alone. She got so angry she threatened to take off her wedding band.

“Ryan pulled out at the last minute and word spread fast. He isn’t making a show of good faith to the Warner team after they battled over the decision making him Green Lantern.

“Scarlett ended up looking like the true professional and acted as if nothing was wrong, answering questions for fans and posing for pictures. It was not a good way for Ryan to begin his work as the star of the movie.”

The hunky actor insists seeing Sandra in the buff was anything but sexy — because he’s such good friends with the 44-year-old Speed star.

“I was surprised to see Sandra naked. It’s always strange when you’re working with your friend and then suddenly you’re, you know, her naked body is on top of yours — it’s very strange.

“The kissing scenes are about as intimate as being under mortar fire. I mean, there are usually 15 or 20 crew members standing around wondering what’s for lunch while they scratch their ass. It’s not a romantic setting.”

The hunky X Men star — who is married to actress Scarlett Johansson — says he was jumping around the set of The Proposal in the nude and had to stop worrying about the whereabouts of his manhood.

“You know you’ve made a bad move, because you don’t normally combine nudity with stunts,” said Ryan. “This isn’t like Cirque de Soliel porn. It’s a movie.

“You have these scenes where you slam into each other. You fall on to the ground and I would always know that something popped out wrong because the cameraman would go, ‘Oh Oh!’

“By hour four I had abandoned the fig leaf or whatever the hell they gave me and I was just throwing caution – and other things – to the wind.”

The Proposal — which also stars Sandra Bullock and Betty White — hits movie theaters on June 19.
