TAYLOR Lautner wants to take his relationship with girlfriend Taylor Swift to the next level — he’s proposed to the teenage star, it has been claimed.

The hunky 17-year-old star of the record-breaking movie New Moon apparently went down on one knee a few days ago.

But their respective parents aren’t too pleased — they believe the pair aren’t old enough to tie the knot and have urged the youngsters to get to know each other better before taking the plunge.

“Lautner’s parents adore Swift,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “But they feel both are too young, and that since their careers are just starting to take off the timing is wrong.

“Their parents urged them to get to know each other better before taking such a big step.”

It was recently reported that Lautner had met Swift’s mom — and impressed her!

“Taylor is breathing a huge sigh of relief because he’s gotten the seal of approval from Andrea Swift,” a source said.

“He was warned in advance that Taylor’s mom can be brutal, and she advised him to bring his A-game to their first meeting.

“Andrea came prepared with a list of rules for dating her daughter: No clubs, no Hollywood parties, and always remember that her career comes first.

“She also told Taylor that if there was even a whiff of scandal or cheating, he’d be banned from seeing her.”

“Taylor’s still on his best behavior,” the source continued. “And he knows if their romance is to have a chance, he’s got to stay in her mom’s good graces.”

TAYLOR Lautner is having a tough time coming to terms with his superstar status.

The actor — who plays Jacob Black in the Twilight movie franchise — admits he was totally unprepared for fame and dealing with his legions of fans.

“I really don’t think there was anything that could’ve prepared me for this. There is no way of getting your head round this phenomenon,” he said.

“I think Robert Pattinson handled himself very well in all of this craziness but I don’t think there is any specific way to prepare yourself, you have just got to deal with it all as it comes.”

Taylor, 17, recently insisted his shirtless scenes in Twilight sequel New Moon — which hits theaters Friday — aren’t purely gratuitous.

“There’s definitely reasons behind it for the film,” the buffed up star told E! News.

“When we transform, we don’t have clothes, we have to go find our clothes. And we’re hot, we’re 108 degrees. So it’s not like we’re randomly taking our shirts off for no reason.”

TAYLOR Lautner has an unusual effect on his fans — they burst into tears when they meet him!

“A lot of them will just burst into tears, and that’s just moving,” the 17-year-old Twilight star told Parade magazine of his weeping followers. “It’s like it must mean so much for them to meet us and it’s just, it’s an amazing feeling to know that you can touch somebody in that way. It also makes you sad and you’re going, ‘Don’t cry, please stop crying.’”

The buffed-up teen says he’s looking forward to his upcoming 18th birthday.

“My upcoming 18th birthday will be a big day,” he said. “As soon as I finish this press stuff for New Moon, maybe I’ll think about that. I’m having the time of my life, so it couldn’t be a better end to my teenage years. I’m doing what I love and I’m spending time with the people I love, so it’s great. I’m definitely never ever going to forget this time in my life.”

Taylor recently admitted that he still isn’t used to seeing his face on posters.

“I don’t think there’s a way to ever get used to it,” he said. “It’s not normal to drive down the street and see your face up there.

“But it’s Twilight. It comes with the job I guess.”

TAYLOR Lautner still can’t get used to seeing his face everywhere.

The 17-year-old actor — who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the Twilight movie series — says he does a double take when he is featured on a movie poster.

“I don’t think there’s a way to ever get used to it,” he said. “It’s not normal to drive down the street and see your face up there.

“But it’s Twilight. It comes with the job I guess.”

Taylor recently revealed that he avoids reading gossip about his life.

I try to stay away from what has been written about me because if you let that stuff get to you and it’s not true, it can drive you crazy,” he said.

“One thing that I have heard recently, which is definitely not true, I was quoted as saying I will never take my shirt off for a movie again. I didn’t say that. If I have to, if the character requires it, I will.

“Who knows, in 10 years, I might do that. And like I said earlier, if a character requires me to lose 40 lbs, I’ll do it. It’s just what the character requires.

“I knew where my character went in New Moon and that’s all I tried to focus on. I couldn’t control things outside or the media. But I could control what I was doing to portray Jacob correctly.”

TAYLOR Swift has played down rumors she’s dating Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner.

In a new interview with InStyle magazine, the Love Story singer says she doesn’t have time for a boyfriend — and insists she’s happy being single.

“I’ve never thought it was a curse to be single,” she told the publication, “and at this point in my life, I’m in the mind-set where I choose to be single — like I got to light scented candles and write in my diary and I wouldn’t have time for that if I had a boyfriend right now!”

But Swift admits she and Lautner grew “close” while filming their upcoming movie Valentine’s Day.

“He and I have gotten really close,” she says. “It would be confusing on the set with two Taylors in the same scene. They were like, ‘Taylor, on your mark – no, not you, the other one!’ So halfway through the shoot, I said, ‘How about you guys call me Swifty and call him Taylor?’ ”

Lautner, 17, says he enjoyed playing Swift’s wanna-be boyfriend on the silver screen.

“Taylor is hilarious,” he said. “It was definitely not hard to play her love interest.”

“You could definitely say I felt a bit of pressure trying to bring Jacob’s character and Jake and Bella’s relationship alive for the fans, because this movie definitely develops their relationship and sets up the love triangle. So it’s a very important story.”

TAYLOR Lautner admits the wig he wore for Twilight sequel New Moon caused him and the movie’s production team huge problems.

The hunky 17-year-old says the fake locks made him itchy and often ended up in his mouth — which dramatically slowed down filming.

“It was very freeing to get rid of the wig,” says Taylor. “Not only was it uncomfortable — I’d look at myself in the mirror and I wouldn’t even be able to recognize myself. It was so weird just to see that hair on me.

“It was also very itchy, hot, whatever, annoying. It also slowed down the filming process. Whenever it got caught in my eye or whatever, we’d have to cut and start over. It got caught in my mouth and I’m spitting hair out in the middle of the scene. I’m coming this close to kissing Bella and ‘Sorry, I’ve got to spit my hair out’.

“My last day of filming with the wig, we ripped it off, held it up in the air, like ‘That’s a picture wrap on Taylor’s wig.’ The whole crew gave it a standing ovation. It was amazing. It was great to chop that thing off.”

Taylor — who plays teen wolf Jacob Black in the movie series — recently revealed that he’d quit like to take on Kristen Stewart’s role, Bella.
