Wanda Sykes Saw Michael Jackson Documentary on Bootleg DVD

Wanda SykesWANDA Sykes has a guilty confession — she watched a bootleg DVD of the Michael Jackson concert documentary This Is It.

The writer, stand-up comedian and actress — who with her wife Alex welcomed babies Olivia Lou and Lucas Claude in April — says she’s too busy to go to the cinema.

“There’s so many movies I wanna see, like there’s the Michael Jackson movie I wanna see,” she said.

“I don’t have time so I did something I never do, I bought a bootleg. I know, I know, but it’s something I never do. They’re the worst, mine was really bad!”

Meanwhile, Wanda — who’s gearing up for the launch her of late night talk show, the Wanda Sykes Show — has urged Jon and Kate Gosselin to stay off the TV and concentrate on raising their kids.

“I think I would tell them to stay off TV and raise their kids,” Wanda told US TV show Extra.

“And maybe if they got off TV, Kate could let the other side of her hair grow back!” adds Sykes, referring to the reality mom’s reverse mullet.

Wanda Sykes to Launch Talk Show

WANDA Sykes is gearing up for her new gig — late night talk show host!

The writer, stand-up comedian and actress is set to front a weekly late-night sketch-comedy talk show called the Wanda Sykes Show. It kicks off tonight (November 7) on Fox at 11 p.m.

Like Saturday Night Live, the Wanda Sykes Show is intended to be topical; its makers insist Sykes will be unlike anything else on TV.

Wanda, 45, will give her take on the week’s events, along with reports from the field and comedy sketches.

The show will open with a monologue, more like a standup performance than a string of random jokes. Then Sykes will conduct a discussion similar to Bill Maher’s, but not as serious or confrontational.

The panel will sit at a bar, complete with cocktails.

“I’m not going to work this hard and not be able to drink,” she told critics via conference call this week.

“I want you to feel like you’re hanging out at my spot, seeing my friends.”

She’ll sip vodka and club soda since, “If you spill it, there’s no problem with wardrobe.”

Louis-Dreyfus + Sykes To Wed On TV

Former SEINFELD star JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS has entered the same-sex marriage debate by marrying comedienne WANDA SYKES in an episode of U.S. sitcom THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE.

In the season opener, which airs on Wednesday night (24Sep08), the actress agrees to wed her pal Barb (Sykes) after she learns she is in danger of being deported to the Bahamas.

The straight couple stage a gay wedding in the backyard of Louis-Dreyfus’ TV home.

Same-sex marriages were made legal in California in May (08) but a steering group is fighting to appeal the ruling. Californians are being asked to vote for or against gay marriage when they vote for a new President in November (08).
