Gervais Introduces 'Racist' Version of The Office on Saturday Night Live

By WENN, May 19 2008

British comedian RICKY GERVAIS shocked audiences this weekend (17May08) when he introduced a 'racist' Japanese version of his TV hit THE OFFICE, during a surprise appearance on Saturday NIGHT LIVE.

Funnyman Steve Carell - who stars in the American version of the series – was hosting the season finale of the comedy sketch show when his British counterpart Gervais appeared.

Gervais announced himself as the "creator and star of the far superior version of The Office", before revealing his inspiration for the pair's international hit show was a similar Japanese series - which was parodied in a sketch starring Carell.

Gervais then commended Carell for his performance, adding: "It's funny, because it's racist."
