Stars Come Out For Idol Finale

By WENN, May 22 2008

GEORGE MICHAEL, SEAL, DONNA SUMMER, ZZ TOP and BRYAN ADAMS provided the celebrity performances during Wednesday's (21May08) AMERICAN IDOL live finale, but it was JACK BLACK, BEN STILLER and ROBERT DOWNEY JR. who stole the show.

The trio appeared as Gladys Knight's backing band The Pips for a hilarious skit performance of soul classic Midnight Train to Georgia.

Dressed in retro 1970s suits, the threesome danced and sang behind Knight in a cleverly doctored video, which will be available to download via iTunes for a charity donation.

Mike Myers also raised a laugh as he attempted to offer the two final Idol contestants career advice - as his new movie character The Love Guru.

As revealed by WENN, George Michael was the night's big surprise - he performed Praying For Time with a heavy cold after the 12 Idol finalists sang his hits Faith and Freedom.

Former Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks also performed during the two-hour U.S. TV special.

At the climax, rocker David Cook was named the American Idol of 2008 after landing 12 million votes more than rival David Archuleta.
