Morton Halts Daughter's Acting Career

By WENN, May 28 2008

British actress SAMANTHA MORTON has put a halt to her young daughter's acting career - as she doesn't want her to be a child star.

Morton's eight-year-old daughter Esme made her movie debut at the age of five - landing a role in 2007's Mr Lonely alongside her mother.

And although the youngster has been inundated with film offers ever since, the 31-year-old star won't let her take on any more roles until she is older.

She says, "She put herself into that film. She was very good. It felt like we were making a home movie. I didn't think, 'My daughter has gone into showbusiness.'

"A lot of scripts come her way. I read them and go, 'No!'."
