Fans' Fury Over Sex + The City Premiere Blunder

The New York premiere of SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE was plunged into chaos after the venue was over-booked - and thousands of ticket-holders were refused entry.

Organisers of Tuesday (27May08) night's glitzy event misjudged the number of people due to attend the screening at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall, which has a capacity of 6,000.

A reported 2,000 fans of the hit TV show, including competition winners, were left outside despite holding tickets for the premiere, with officials granting access on a "first come, first served" basis.

And the queues of disappointed movie-goers stretched all the way down the street, with police erecting barriers to control the crowds.

Actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs in the new film, was stunned by the unfolding drama - telling reporters, "I hope my mum gets in."
