Elvis Presley's Former Backing Singer Jarrett Dies

A former backing singer of ELVIS PRESLEY has died after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash late last month (May08).

Hugh Jarrett passed away at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday (31May08). He was 78.

The star was a member of The Jordinaires, the band that played with Presley, between 1954 to 1958.

He joined Presley on his first tour after leaving the military in 1960 and also starred alongside the King of Rock 'n' Roll in a number of movies as part of The Jordinaires.

Jarrett last joined The Jordinaires on stage in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997.
