Michael Eavis Denies Gilmour Glastonbury Snub

By WENN, June 3 2008

LATEST: A British festival organizer has refuted claims he turned down a performance from PINK FLOYD frontman DAVID GILMOUR because he's too old.

Reports surfaced Monday (02Jun08) alleging Glastonbury Festival boss Michael Eavis had denied the rocker a performance slot at this year's (08) event in favour of younger acts.

But Eavis denies snubbing the star, insisting there was simply not enough time for Gilmour to perform.

He says: "I got a call three or four weeks ago from Gilmour's people. But by that time all the bands were already in place. It's a great line-up and I couldn't bump one of them, even for him."

Kings Of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve will headline the festival later this month (27-29Jun08).
