Hawkes' Lennon Inspiration

By WENN, June 5 2008

CHESNEY HAWKES was inspired to write his new album after inheriting a piano once owned by late BEATLES legend JOHN LENNON.

Hawkes' father was given the instrument by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and he eventually passed it on to his musician son.

The One and Only singer has spent eight years composing his third LP, which is due for release later this year (08), and he insists it was Lennon's piano which helped him channel his creativity.

He says, "Just sitting there with the piano is inspiring. There is something about it.

"To me it's like an older brother. It's been there all my life."
