Rare Bob Marley & Jimi Hendrix Recordings To Go Online

By WENN, June 5 2008

Music lovers will soon be able to purchase internet downloads of rare concert performances by acts including BOB MARLEY and JIMI HENDRIX - following a groundbreaking deal by Universal Music.

The record label successfully brokered an agreement with music website Wolfgang's Vault, whose owner, Bill Sagan, purchased scores of original recordings from late promoter Bill Graham. Graham died in 1991.

Universal Music's involvement with the site now means rare concert archives held by the label will be made available to the public for the first time.

As well as performances from Marley and Hendrix, concerts by Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Iggy Pop, The Kinks and Lou Reed will also be made available for download.

Universal bosses have also announced plans to eventually release the recordings on CD.
