Tatum O'Neal Suffers Sobriety Setback?

Actress TATUM O'NEAL's bid to remain sober has reportedly proved unsuccessful after the troubled star was photographed sipping what appeared to be alcohol at an event on Monday (02Jun09).

The embattled actress was seen holding a glass of what looked like white wine at New York City Ballet's 24th annual Dance with the Dancers gala, according to People.com.

It was the former Dancing with the Stars contestant's first public appearance since her arrest for allegedly buying cocaine from a man just three blocks from her New York home earlier this month (Jun08).

O'Neal, 44, had enrolled at a local Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) therapy group in a bid to kick her addictions after she was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanour offence.

Speaking to a reporter from Fashion Week Daily at the event, O'Neal said, "This is certainly different from (reality TV show) Dancing with the Stars. But if you're going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance!"
