Silverchair Star Johns Dominates Apra Award

SILVERCHAIR frontman DANIEL JOHNS picked up three honours at the 2008 APRA Music Awards in Australia on Monday night (16Jun08).

The singer, who was sporting a black eye, was named Songwriter Of The Year at a ceremony in Sydney, becoming the first artist to win the award three times.

The band's track Straight Lines won both the prestigious Song Of The Year Award, and the gong for Most Played Australian Work For Coverage On Radio And TV.

Other award winners included singer Sally Seltmann, who co-wrote Feist's catchy pop song 1,2,3,4; she picked up Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year Award.

Rogue Traders won their second APRA in the Best Dance Work category for In Love Again, while Jade MacRae was a first-time winner with In The Basement in the Urban Category.
