Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal's Son Gets Probation

By WENN, June 27 2008

FARRAH FAWCETT and RYAN O'NEAL's son has been sentenced to three years' probation after pleading guilty to drug possession charges.

Redmond O'Neal was charged with two felonies: possession of methamphetamine and heroin, and a misdemeanour driving under the influence charge (DUI) after he was pulled over by cops in Malibu, California in January (08). Police officers had allegedly spotted him driving erratically on the Pacific Coast Highway and a subsequent search of his vehicle unearthed drug paraphernalia.

The DUI count was later dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

In addition to the probation, the 23-year-old must pay a fine of $1,700 (GBP850).

He has also been ordered to continue drug treatment until a hearing next month (Jul08), when a judge will decide if he should enter a rehabilitation centre to help him kick his drug habit.

O'Neal has checked into rehab 12 times in 10 years and escaped a jail sentence in 2005, after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine and cocaine.

But Redmond isn't the only O'Neal to get in trouble with the law - his half sister daughter Tatum was recently busted by cops for attempting to buy crack cocaine near her New York apartment.
