Glastonbury Boosts Jay-Z Sales

By WENN, July 3 2008

JAY-Z's controversial performance at British music festival Glastonbury has given the rap superstar a career boost - his hit 99 PROBLEMS is set to soar back into the UK charts.

Organisers were criticised for recruiting the hip-hop star to perform at last weekend's (28-29Jun08) event by those who claimed the decision compromised Glastonbury's rock roots.

But Jay-Z wowed a 100,000 plus crowd - many of whom raced home and downloaded his hits online.

According to CMU Music, sales of 99 Problems and Encore are set to appear in the U.K.'s top 40 this weekend (5-06Jul08). Sales of Oasis' Wonderwall, which Jay-Z covered at Glastonbury, have shot up 200 per cent, lifting it into the top 100, 13 years after it was first released.
