Double Reunion For First-time Director Vardalos

By WENN, July 8 2008

Actress NIA VARDALOS is set for a double reunion on the set of her directorial debut - with two of her favourite co-stars.

In I Hate Valentine's Day, the movie star reteams with My Big Fat Greek Wedding pal John Corbett and former Second City comedy troupe cohort Rachel Dratch.

Former Saturday Night Live star Dratch, who also appeared alongside Vardalos in last year's (07) My Life In Ruins, was so keen to work with her old pal on her first film as a director she pulled out of a summer (08) theatrical production in Connecticut.

She says, "Nia's an old friend and working on her set is a delight. She's super nice and chilled.

"We travelled to Greece while we were shooting My Life In Ruins and that was a really great experience because Nia is treated like a national hero there."

Dratch has been replaced by newcomer Rebecca Harris in Westport County Playhouse's production of David Wiltse's Scramble - the role she had to withdraw from in order to work with Vardalos again.
