Wilson's Praise For Spector

By WENN, July 17 2008

BEACH BOYS star BRIAN WILSON has hailed accused murderer PHIL SPECTOR as the most important musician of all time.

Spector, 67, is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion, in 2003 but he has denied the charges - claiming her death was suicide. He is facing a re-trial in October (08) after a jury failed to reach a verdict last year (07).

But Wilson insists that despite all of the negative publicity - the legendary producer and songwriter should still be remembered for his massive influence on pop music.

The Surfin' USA hitmaker believes that without Spector - who famously pioneered multi-layer recording which became known as the Wall of Sound - many of the greatest pop albums would not exist.

He says, "The most important person in music of all time is Phil Spector.

"He was someone I'd admired from the start. I loved his records. His work was always better than everyone else's, and even now that's still true. There's no-one like him."

Time to sober up

Mr. Wilson has obviously been in the sun too long. Spector made some innovations in recording music. That's it. Oh...wait, there's one more thing he did....he walked out of his creepy mansion early one morning and told his chauffeur, "I think I killed someone." HE SHOT LANA CLARKSON. He should spend the rest of his miserable life in prison being gang-raped by various ethnic groups. While wearing platform shoes and wigs.

Mr. Wilson: Why keep praising someone who belittles your talent?

What about all the times Spector has put down Wilson and his talent?? Why does Wilson insist on continuously praising Spector in spite of his put downs?

I quote:
"On Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys leader and songwriting legend who battled mental illness for years, Spector declared, "I don't feel sorry for Brian Wilson. I never thought he was that talented to begin with . . . I'd be more impressed if somebody with a brain idolized me."

Overrated

I'm afraid they're both overrated. And maybe a few notes shy of a symphony.
