Versace Designing Historic New York Building

By WENN, July 23 2008

DONATELLA VERSACE can add interior designer to her resume - she has been hired to overhaul a historic New York landmark.

The fashion mogul will design all interiors and common areas for the Met Life Clock Tower on Madison Avenue, which opened in 1909.

Plans for the building include the construction of 55 luxury condominiums, costing as much as $3,500 (GBP1,750) per square foot.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010.

Project boss Rotem Rosen says, "We believe the brand name of Versace plays a significant role in bringing the highest lifestyle for this clientele."
