Mummy Cast And Crew Shared Battleground With Chinese Army

By WENN, July 29 2008

The cast and crew of the new MUMMY movie frequently had to halt shooting for Chinese army manoeuvres.

Director Rob Cohen filmed the new action movie, Tomb of The Dragon Emperor, on land owned by the army in Shanghai - and had to agree to stop shooting when soldiers went on the march.

The film's star Brendan Fraser says, "One particular location in China was the desert battlefield for the epic collision of the good undead and the evil undead.

"That was actually the training facility for the Chinese army that we leased from them. Every now and then they would run a manoeuvre, not with tanks, but with guys on the training run armed to the teeth.

"They were going right along the ridge of the dune in the back of our shot. We would patiently wait because we were in their neighbourhood - and they got the real guns."
