Doherty Heartbroken Over Winehouse Health Battle

Rocker PETE DOHERTY struggles to read news reports about the troubled life of his close friend AMY WINEHOUSE - because he finds the stories "heartbreaking".

The Rehab hitmaker was rushed to hospital on Monday (28Jul08) after suffering a reaction to medication at her London home, but was discharged on Tuesday (29Jul08).

Winehouse has suffered a string of health problems this year (08), including a bout of infectious skin condition impetigo and traces of deadly lung disease emphysema, while her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is in a London jail for assaulting a pub landlord in June 2006.

And the Babyshambles frontman admits he sympathises with Winehouse's plight.

He tells Britain's Loaded magazine, "She's not been married for a year and her old man's locked up. It's a lonely life and she's completely hounded by the papers. I feel so, so sorry for her."
