Farrell Leads The Way At 2008 Canadian Country Music Awards
Country music newcomer JESSIE FARRELL is leading the nominations for the 2008 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs), after picking up seven nods, including Songwriter of the Year.
The 30-year-old singer, from Vancouver, Canada also scooped nominations for Best Single, Female Artist and Album Of The Year, with the latter category seeing her compete with more established acts including Doc Walker, Gord Bamford and Paul Brandt.
American artists dominated the Top Selling Album category, with Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride facing off against Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' Raising Sand, Reba McEntire's Reba Duets, Taylor Swift's self-titled debut and Garth Brooks' Ultimate Hits.
The CCMA trophies will be handed out at a ceremony in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 8 September (08), with country singer Terri Clark hosting the bash.
