SCARLETT JOHANSSON denies she has become director WOODY ALLEN's latest muse.

Allen admits the Lost In Translation star is the inspiration for his films, following in the footsteps of actresses and his former lovers Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow.

The actress has appeared in three Allen movies in as many years; 2005's Match Point, Scoop in 2006 and the forthcoming Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

But Johansson rejects claims she has become a muse for the moviemaker, insisting they only work together to "have fun".

She says, "I'm not his muse. Every single junket that we've done so far (for Vicky Cristina Barcelona), we always get the muse thing and we always say no, it's not that way.

"Woody and I both appreciate how wonderful it is to work with your friends, and it's fun and we always have a great time when we do it, we entertain each other, we understand each other and we poke each other."
