NFL: 'No Springsteen Deal Yet'

American football bosses are baffled by reports BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN will perform at next year's (09) Super Bowl - insisting no deal has been made.

It was reported on Monday (11Aug08) that the rock legend and his E Street Band would headline the half-time show at the NFL showdown in Tampa Bay Florida - the biggest event in the U.S. TV calendar.

But NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy insists, "We don't currently have any talent confirmed for the Super Bowl."

Recent Super Bowl headliners have included The Rolling Stones, Prince and Tom Petty + The Heartbreakers.
