BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE's six-strong brood have reportedly made them eligible to receive nearly $2,600 (GBP1,405) in child benefits thanks to a French parenting subsidies programme.

According to celebrity website People.com, the couple qualified for the programme - available to all families regardless of financial means - after Pitt registered his family at the town hall in Brignoles, France.

Details of the benefits they are entitled to include a "nanny payment" of $975.84 (GBP527.48) a month and an "orphan allowance" of $508.97 (GBP275.12) for each of their three adopted children.

A spokesperson for the Brignoles council says: "We do not discuss individual benefits cases. But (we) can confirm that all resident local families with young children are eligible for certain benefits."

The Hollywood superstars welcomed their latest additions, twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline in Nice, France last month (Jul08) - the fifth and six children to join the growing family including adopted kids Maddox, seven; Pax, four; Zahara, three, and biological daughter Shiloh, two.
