Ne-Yo Left Confused By Alicia Keys' Quiet Audience

September 3 2008

R+B singer NE-YO was convinced he had made a huge mistake when he hit the stage in support of ALICIA KEYS - because the audience was so quiet.

The So Sick hitmaker joined Keys on her recent As I Am tour of the U.S., but was left dumbstruck by the crowd's lack of reaction to his performance - because he was not used to playing to more mature music fans.

He says, "I'm used to people screaming and up out of their chairs with their hands in the air. Alicia's crowd is very much, 'That's very nice. You sing very well, young man'.

"I wondered what I was doing wrong but as time progressed, I realised that this type of crowd doesn't give it up (cheer) 'til the end of the show."
