Tom Cruise Stunned By Criticism Of Hitler Film
TOM CRUISE cannot understand why his movie VALKYRIE has attracted so much criticism - because it's such an "important" story.
The actor insists the movie - which tells the true story of a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II - will be a box office hit after wowing audiences at a test screening earlier this month (Aug08).
He says: "It (the criticism) just doesn't make sense to me either. The moment I read the screenplay I knew it was an important story, and as it's a true tale of heroic resistance to one of the great villains of history, I can't imagine that people won't want to see it."
Valkyrie, starring Cruise alongside actors Kenneth Branagh, Terence Stamp, and comedian Eddie Izzard, is due to hit U.S. cinemas on 26 December (08).

i agree with Mr Cruise in this.These men were very brave and knew what awaited them if they failed.Then when it did fail they payed the price in full. Add to that the information that after many failed attempts since 1933 it wasnt a done deal they would succeed and several of the men in this plot had been on other failed attempts and we can see this is indeed a tale for the telling.It is time to open the screen to more information about war time Germany and to show there was resistance to Hitler .I definately want to see it and will do so as soon as it comes out particularly as i have been researching the third reich and it isnt easy reading,for any of us!!NOONE comes out well in terms of what was known and what was done! good luck with the project i say and hopefully it will be a good film about very brave men which is always a worthwhile project regardless of nationality!
