Rage Against The Machine Fans Arrested For Protest
Authorities arrested 102 fans leaving a RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE concert on Wednesday (03Aug08) after they attempted to start an impromptu protest.
After exiting the band's gig at the Target Center, the crowd marched up and down First Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota to protest against the Republican National Convention, which was being held in nearby St. Paul.
The mob, which was originally made up of about 250 people but quickly gained in numbers, failed to clear, prompting police to arrest the marchers and haul them to jail in two city buses.
Lisa Kiava, a spokeswoman for the Hennepin County sheriff's office, confirmed that most of the charges are expected to be misdemeanours.
The incident marks the second time this week the activist rockers have been involved in a disturbance with the state's police. On Tuesday (02Sep08), the group led fans in an anti-Republican protest across the state capital lawn after they were banned from playing at a political rally.
