ZAC Efron says he accepted his role in new film Me and Orson Wells because he wanted to try something “fresh”.

The actor — who shot to fame playing clean-cut Troy Bolton in Disney’s popular High School Musical movie franchise — admits he was looking for something a bit “riskier” when took the part.

“I was looking for that opportunity, something fresh,” Zac said, insisting he wasn’t concerned his large, mostly teen fan base, wouldn’t have heard of Orson Welles.

“Perhaps the fans that don’t know about Orson maybe have more of an opinion now when they study this stuff at school… some insight into the early life of this American icon,” he said.

Zac also revealed how is fans managed to track him down while he was filming on the Isle of Man — a small island located in the Irish Sea between Britain and Ireland.

“I was looking forward to that seclusion,” he said. “From what I heard it was a pretty quiet place and there weren’t a lot of people there. But they found it. But I felt pretty welcome.”

ROBERT Pattinson is playing down his role in Twilight sequel New Moon because he wants his private life back — according to the movie’s director, Chris Weitz.

Weitz says the hunky British actor is still struggling with the stratospheric fame the vampire movies have brought him, and suggests the Brit actor just has to take it on the chin.

“Robert tries to claim he’s not really in this movie because basically he wants his private life back,” says Chris. “Unfortunately it’s not going to work. But it’s a nice try.”

Pattinson, 23, recently revealed that he’s still finding his fame something of a “novelty”.

“Fame’s such a novelty to me still,” he told reporters at the London premiere of New Moon.

“If I’m still stuck in hotel rooms in ten years and I haven’t figured out any other way to deal with it other than hiding, it probably would annoy me a little bit.

“I guess I’ll see what it’s like in the next two or three years.”

LADY GaGa insists her cameo appearance in US TV show Gossip Girl was the perfect role.

The Bad Romance singer — whose episode aired in America earlier this week — says her love of fashion and New York meant she “fitted right in” on the set of the CW drama.

“I love that show,” said GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta. “I am a true New Yorker and I love fashion too, so I fitted right in.”

GaGa, 23, recently revealed that she’s a dab hand in the kitchen.

“I love to cook,” she said. “I am really good at Italian food because I come from a very Italian family. So I make great meatballs, pasta… Mmmm.”

It was recent claimed that GaGa has her sights on becoming an actress.

“She sees acting as a natural progression in her career,” revealed a source close to the star. “One idea she has is for a rock opera which would be a huge big budget movie made to her own very unique ideas.

ROBERT De Niro isn’t strict with his kids.

The Oscar-winning star — who has several children with several different women — insists he’s he model of reason when it comes to being a dad.

“I try not to be too strict with my younger kids because certain things they have to do,” he said. “But at the same time I don’t want them to get away with anything.

“But I think I try to rationalize with them, and argue — ‘Now look, I’m very good with you about certain things. You have to now do this. That’s only fair’.

“Of course, there are times when that stuff doesn’t work. I’m not the all-knowing, all-seeing… But I think in general it works pretty good.”

De Niro, 66, recently revealed that he has an iPhone — but doesn’t use Twitter.

“I don’t Twitter,” he said. “Somebody told me about it. I didn’t know what it was.

“I only know how to use a computer. I don’t even know how good I am at it. I slowly use the little things and get emails and I look at videos on the computer and I use an iPhone. I guess I use it adequately.”

CHRISTIAN Bale will only make another Batman movie if his pal Chris Nolan directs it, it has been claimed.

According to reports, the British actor is poised to make a third Batman movie — but has told film bosses that without Nolan — who directed 2008’s Dark Knight – he won’t be putting on his cape and cowl again.

“A new Batman movie is set to go into production in 2010 but Chris is not on board yet,” reveals a Hollywood insider.

“Christian is due to return as the lead but he has made a point of saying without Chris they have no movie.

“Christian sees him as vital in projecting Batman in a way that’s something more than your average comic book movie. Christian may not even be Batman without Chris.”

THE wait is over: Twilight sequel New Moon — the most eagerly-awaited film of the year — has finally landed in theaters!

The film’s stars — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have been traveling the globe over the past few weeks promoting the flick, so they’ll no doubt be glad to sit back, relax and watch the pennies roll in at the box office!

Pattinson — who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the movie series — recently revealed that he’s more “relaxed” about the release of New Moon.

“I’m surprised at how relaxed I am about the whole thing now,” the 23-year-old said. “I was really nervous when we started shooting New Moon, especially because of the expectation and everything… only because the first one did so well. I was really freaking out.”

Referring to the time Twilight fans were writing on internet message boards that they didn’t want him to play Edward, Pattinson said, “I think, in a way, I liked that. I felt I had less pressure because I had absolutely zero expectations whatsoever.

“For New Moon I was kind of freaking out a little bit at first, but hopefully I learned a couple of things that seemed to work on the first one. So I’m pretty calm now.”

KATE Moss needs to watch what she says!

The British supermodel has come under fire for making comments which could promote extreme slimming.

Moss, 35, said in a interview with WWD that her motto is, “‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ That’s one of them. You try and remember, but it never works.”

Similar phrases can be found on pro-anorexia websites.

Moss — who is mom to daughter Lila Grace, 7 — has now been accused of encouraging young people to develop eating disorders.

“The term is used in anorexia websites to reinforce to themselves and each other to pursue thinness,” said Dr Anthea Fursland, a psychologist who specializes in treating eating disorders, told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.

“I think it could have quite a large impact having someone so famous saying that. She is just giving credence to a belief that we are trying to move away from. If they’re at the cusp and feeling vulnerable, that might send them back into the pursuit of thinness.”

Model Katie Green — who launched the Say No To Size Zero campaign in the UK earlier this year — also blasted Kate’s remarks, warning that websites which encourage eating disorders will “go crazy” over her comments, believing she supports their cause.

“There are 1.1 million eating disorders in the UK alone. Kate Moss’s comments are likely to cause many more,” Green fumed.

“If you read any of the pro-anorexia websites they go crazy for quotes like these.”
