Pete Doherty Urges Amy Winehouse's Husband to Leave Her

Pete Doherty is so taken with Amy Winehouse -- he has begged the troubled singer's husband to leave her.

The 'Babyshambles' frontman has written incarcerated Blake Fielder-Civil a letter urging him to step aside because he would be a better lover for the 'Rehab' singer.

A source said: "Pete has written to Blake and told him bluntly to do the decent thing. If he loves Amy, let her go."

Doherty -- who, like Amy, 24, is battling drug addictions -- also told Blake -- who is currently on remand in London's Pentonville Prison -- he had proposed to Amy four years ago when they met on a British TV show.

The source added: "Pete explained in his letter to Blake that he genuinely believes if he and Amy had got together then, they would've weathered the storms of fame together and not have succumbed to addiction or depression.

"He thinks they're two halves of the same coin, stronger together than apart. And he blames Blake for hurting Amy and getting her in this mess."
