Amy Winehouse's incarcerated husband yesterday vowed to quit drugs and help the troubled singer get free of them, too.

As he was sentenced to 27-months behind bars for assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, Blake said he wanted to be a role model for Amy in their fight to beat their addiction to heroin and crack cocaine.

Defense lawyer Jeremy Dein told the court that drugs were a "smiling assassin" to Fielder-Civil. But now he wanted to go into rehab with Amy.

He added, "It is their ambition to divorce themselves from hard drugs, not to separate from each other.

"He has said repeatedly that he wishes to extract himself from drugs, not least to become a role model for Miss Winehouse.

"For almost half his life he has been in the clutches of drugs. Prior to his arrest, both he and Miss Winehouse were both besieged drug addicts. There is no other way of putting it."

Fielder-Civil was given the sentence at London's Snaresbrook Crown after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) to James King.

He had also admitted conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by attempting to bribe King into withdrawing his testimony -- offering him $400,000 to drop the case.

The 26-year-old -- who married the Back To Black star last year -- has been held on remand at London's Pentonville Prison for the past nine months, meaning he has to serve a further 18 months before he is freed.

Fielder-Civil's co-defendants Anthony Kelly and Michael Brown, both 25, and James Kennedy, 19, were also jailed for perverting the course of justice. Brown had also pleaded guilty to the assault on King.

Fielder-Civil was supported in court by his mother Georgette; Winehouse was not present for her husband's sentencing, however, she was told of Blake's jail term by a minder at her North London home.
