Sienna Miller's ex-boyfriend Rhys Ifans has infuriated sex crime support charities after allegedly making light of date rape in a radio interview.

Help group bosses are demanding the 'Notting Hill' actor apologizes on behalf of the victims of date rape, and hope his comments will trigger a nationwide boycott of his work.

When the Welsh star was asked by Britain's Radio Q to comment on a track by rock group The Gutter Twins, Rhys said approvingly, "It's kind of like being date raped, which I liked."

Asked by the presenter on whether he deemed date rape to be a good thing, Rhys replied, "Well, yeah, for guys."

The comments -- made during a pre-recorded show due to be broadcast this week -- have angered Grahame Rhodes of the Roofie Foundation, a helpline for victims of date rape.

He said, "If he wants to retract that, it would be nice for the 9,000 people who have been drug raped in the past 12 years.

"It shows a total lack of understanding and compassion for the issues. I hope everyone boycotts everything he does now."
