Britney Spears' Dad: 'People Took Advantage of Her'

Britney Spears' dad says people took advantage of the troubled star when she was at her lowest.
"I do understand that my baby made this monster," Jamie Spears -- who is the Toxic singer's conservator -- says, adding, "But when she was down, people took advantage."
The Spears patriarch also admits the conservatorship -- which sees Jamie take control of all the singer's affairs, etc. -- was a major adjustment for Britney, but says it has actually given them both a chance to grow together as father and daughter.
He tells OK! magazine, "It's wonderful. It's new for both of us. She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But, like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot."
After a traumatic year, during which she lost custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, Britney is now reunited with the pair, thanks to a court order granting her increased visitation rights.
Jamie says both Britney and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, wanted to avoid going to trial over their custody dispute, and that in the end it came down to negotiating how much time Brit wanted with their sons.
"It made no sense for that trial to proceed so we worked out an agreement," he says. "The agreement says that on Oct. 1 we'll probably get another overnight, and that will stay in place until the end of the year or the end of the conservatorship."
