Dolly Parton 'Alive and Well'
Dolly Parton's rep has spoken out to quash reports that the country music star died on Friday -- insisting she's "alive and well."
The 9 to 5 hitmaker, 62, was rumored to have died of congestive heart failure at a Tennessee hospital on August 22.
But David Dotson, president of the Dollywood Foundation in Tennessee, says he has "no idea" how the rumors started.
"It came out of the blue on Friday night," Dotson, who has not spoken to Parton since the rumor started, tells Fox News. "I have no idea who or why it started or spread like it did. The most important thing is it's a rumor."
As for a report that it started at a high school football game, Dotson was skeptical about that.
"They never identified what football game, so I think that's not accurate," he said.
Parton has been a victim of similar rumors in the past.
"There was something a couple of years ago — I think it started on the Web. Seems to be plenty of rumor-mongers out there," Dotson said.
Dolly has been married to Carl Dean for 43 years.

I really don't like the fact that they spread rumors like that. I have loved Dolly for years and her and my mother are the same age so it really hits home with something like that. Leave her alone and let her do her own thing. That is not even Funny to say someone died.

I think it is terrible someone would start a rumor like this. I have met Dolly in person and she is as beautiful and gracious as she is on TV. She is also a joy to be around. May God Bless her.
