Anne Hathaway: 'Walking my Dog Keeps me Fit'

Anne Hathaway says her dog helps her keep in shape.

The Devil Wears Prada actress -- who recently split from her Italian businessman beau Raffaello Follieri -- credits walking her pet pooch Esmerelda daily for helping her maintain a slim and trim figure.

She says, "I don't diet. My life keeps me slim but you have to be a bit careful. In Hollywood, if you are bigger than size 6 you're considered fat.

"I'd like to get on a schedule where I can work out more - I'm too busy to go to the gym and I don't have time to prepare my own food so we go out a lot.

"But I try to walk everywhere, I love walking my dog Esmeralda - she really helps me - and I take stairs whenever possible."

Meanwhlie, Hathaway has revealed that she initially refused to fall for U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's charms -- because she had previously been let down by politicians with similar views to the Democratic leader.

Speaking at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week, she said, "I've been burned by politicians before that I wanted to believe in and just didn't live up to it. And I was afraid to trust him and I was afraid to have hope when I first kind of became aware of him."

But she soon changed her opinions on the popular politician, after he gave a moving speech on race.

She added, "I just said, 'I can't deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House'."
