Anne Hathaway Gets Drunk to Make Herself "Look Older"

Anne Hathaway says she gets drunk when she has to act tired or old.

The Devil Wears Prada actress -- who recently split from Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri -- goes out on the town the night before shooting scenes where she has to act older than her age, and swears her theory is a tried and tested method.

She explains, "We were filming a scene where my character had aged and we had tried shooting a few scenes and we all still looked fairly young underneath all of our make-up.

"So we were just trying out ideas and I suggested 'What if we got drunk the night before and came in feeling hung over the next day? I think we would come in feeling a bit rough and maybe that would make us a little tired and have a little less energy so we look older.'

"So we all did it and it worked. Now I swear by it."

Hathaway, 25, recently revealed that she tries not to fall for her co-stars because she prefers to focus on the job.

"I try not to date where I work," says Hathaway -- who has starred alongside the likes of James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger. "It makes life easier. Besides, the possibility has never really arisen."
