Jack Black says mosquitoes made shooting comedy Tropic Thunder "difficult."

The Hollywood funnyman says he and his co-stars in the war movie comedy risked being eaten alive on their jungle set and that he was particularly exposed -- and even forced to apply his own insect repellent.

He says, "It was a fun set in that every day there was another really funny scene happening. But it wasn't an easy set.

"It was difficult terrain, I had to drive through some very muddy, dangerous roads and I was in my underwear a lot.

"There were a lot of bugs and mosquitoes so I had to wear a lot of insect repellent. I even had to put my own sauce on, believe it or not. I didn't have it in my contract to have a sauce spreader."
