Estelle Defends 'Cocky' Kanye West

Estelle reckons more people should be "cocky" like Kanye West.

The pair worked together on the smash hit single American Boy, and Estelle insists Kanye's ego is a positive trait.

She tells E! News, "People say what they say about his ego, but he's very sure of himself and I think that's a great way to be.

"I think more people should follow him, and be more cocky and more proud of their work."

Of the Stronger hitmaker's decision to close the VMAs tonight, despite him swearing that he'd never perform for MTV again after being shut out last year, the London-born rapper says, "I'm sure it was all planned.

"I think people want to see what he'll bring after all of that and I think they're going to be pleasantly surprised and happy with it."

The 25th annual VMAs, hosted by British actor/comedian Russell Brand, will air live at 9 p.m. ET/PT Sunday Sept. 7 from Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
