Angelina Jolie Buys a Knife For Her Son

Angelina Jolie has bought a knife for her six-year-old son Maddox.

The Tomb Raider star -- who has six children with partner Brad Pitt -- said she wanted to buy a weapon for the Cambodian-born infant so she could teach him about the benefits and dangers of carrying a blade.

Jolie reveals, "We take him to a special shop.

"We also talk about samurais and the idea about defending someone as good. We talk about everything."

Jolie, 33, has a past of self-harming with knives.

The star has previously confessed to cutting herself in her teens when her initial attempts at modeling proved unsuccessful.

She has said, "I collected knives and always had certain things around. For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain, maybe feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me."
