Mark Wahlberg has no plans to return to his musical roots -- because he has found his "niche" as an actor.

The We Own The Night star was known as Marky Mark in his earlier years and became famous in his 1991 debut as a rap musician with the band Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

But Wahlberg, 37, has vowed never to get back behind the mic.

He says, "I just felt like I wanted to do music early on and then when I started acting I had to wait until I could do another record anyway.

"And two or three records in I really felt like I had found my niche."

He adds, "I'm trying to figure out some way to destroy the evidence of my musical past. I have a few years to come up with a good excuse but I have a lot of explaining to do."
