Katy Perry Plans ‘Sexy’ MTV EMA Set

Katy PerryKATY Perry insists she’ll be as risqué as possible when she presents tonight’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker — who’s currently dating British comedian Russell Brand – is determined to be the naughtiest lady at the prestigious ceremony, which she is hosting for the second year running.

“I’m going to highlight what God gave me — what my momma made – with lots of booby things,” she said.

“There will be a lot of costumes but fewer clothes. I am using lace, feathers and garters.

“Some of the outfits will be almost just ‘nip slips’ but not quite fully exposed.

“Last year it was fruity and kitsch and fun. But this year the fruit has gone sour. Now it’s dark and sexy and a bit naughtier.

“We are using lots of crystals, bowler hats, bow ties and booby things.”

Katy says she’s basing her costumes on Liza Minnelli’s 1930s-themed musical film Cabaret, which she has been watching intensively.

“I’ve been glued to the TV watching Liza’s song and dance numbers,” Perry said. “So I’ve picked up my make-up tips from her and got that overall 1930s dark romantic vibe.”

Joss Stone Blasts Lily Allen

Joss StoneJOSS Stone has launched a scathing attack on fellow British pop star Lily Allen — claiming she can’t sing.

The Fell in Love With a Boy hitmaker believes Lily is just a media personality — not a musician.

“She needs to sell records because she’s not a singer, and that’s not an offense to her because I think that she knows that too,” Stone said of Allen’s campaign to make internet file sharing a criminal offense.

“I think she’s a performer and she’s more of a personality than she is a singer. But I think when musicians are really making real music people come to the show and that’s what we make our money from, from playing live. And I think it’s probably harder for an artist like Lily and any other pop acts. It’s really about the track and about their personality and their celebrity and that’s how they make their money is selling those records.

“So the downloads – she’s not going to win that fight. None of us will win that fight. So let’s just accept it and let’s see it as something that can be beautiful and it might change music for the better. It might sort the weeds from the flowers.

“Who said that musicians have to be millionaires? Who made this a rule? We don’t need that much money. We just don’t. We only need enough to make music and to eat and to go on tour.”

Taylor Swift Breaks Record With Album

Taylor SwiftCONGRATULATIONS are in order for Taylor Swift!

The teen singing sensation has earned top honors as the artist with the longest-charting album on Billboard’s Top 200 charts, Billboard has announced.

Swift’s self-titled debut, released in October 2006, now spends its 157th week on the chart, more weeks than any other album this decade. The 19-year-old takes the honor from band Nickelback.

Taylor’s disc — which surpassed the 151-week chart life of Shania Twain’s Come On Over — also becomes the longest-charting album from a female country artist in the Nielsen SoundScan era.

Swift recently admitted her fears that she’s not “edgy” enough to impress the public.

“I feel like I disappoint people sometimes because I’m not edgy enough or I don’t throw sharp objects or flip out,” she said. “I feel like in my interviews people don’t believe I’m not drunk or stumbling out of clubs at 6am. They think I’m weird because I’m not.”

Carrie Underwood Scheduled For Letterman Performance

Carrie UnderwoodCARRIE Underwood has been lined up to appear on David Letterman’s TV chat show.

The American Idol winner will perform on Monday night’s show, playing songs from her new album, Play On, which hits stores Tuesday.

Although Underwood has added different musical textures to Play On, she insists she isn’t moving away from country music.

“I’m not trying to move anywhere away from country music,” she said. “I love what I do. And let’s say ‘Cowboy Casanova’ crosses over, it’s going to cross over as it is — fiddles, steel and all. Growing up I never liked it when people would have a country song and then change it for a different format.”

“This has been kind of my first attempt at love songs,” Underwood adds. “And I think there’s a reason for that. I think it’s because I’m a private person anyway, and I’m not so great with emotions. I consider myself more boyish in that way, so I’m pretty closed off. But you know when you’re happy in your life, you can just kind of tell.”

Underwood also admits some of her fans “freaked out” at her choice of collaborators on Play On.

“I think everybody kind of freaked out at first. And it was something that we did take into consideration, that people would be like, ‘What’s going on here?’” she recalls.

“Everybody kind of flipped out over Mike Elizondo, who I really like.

“They’re like, ‘He’s a rap producer.’ And it’s like, well, yes, he has done that, but he’s also worked with Nelly Furtado and Pink and Fiona Apple. I’m just another name he’s adding to his resume of all different kinds of music.”

Rapper Releases Video Directed by Heath Ledger

RAPPER N’fa Forster-Jones has released a music video Heath Ledger directed shortly before his death.

Heath Ledger

The Aussie musician — a boyhood friend of the tragic actor — post the 3 minute, 31 second-clip for his song Cause An Effect on his YouTube and MySpace pages on Thursday, along with a video in which he explains how the project came about.

The Dark Night star Ledger — who died aged 28 in New York from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008 — shot a handful of videos for low-profile artists he liked.

Forster-Jones said the video was shot in one day in the garage of Ledger’s beachside apartment.

“He gave me a call one morning, as he often did at crazy hours, and he’s like, ‘N’fa, I’ve got this idea for a video,’” the rapper says in the online posting.

“He was basically running around directing me each shot,” he said. “It was a really cool day.”

“Every day I count my blessings that I got to have him direct this piece of art,” he said.

The video was first shown at a collection of Ledger’s work at the Rome Film Festival earlier this month.
