Adam Lambert’s AMA Performance Will be Kinky!

Adam LambertADAM Lambert plans to incorporate leather, chains and handcuffs into his performance at the American Music Awards.

The flamboyant American Idol runner-up will sing a sexed-up rendition of For Your Entertainment, the first single off his upcoming album of the same name — and Lambert can’t wait to see how the star-studded crowd responds.

“I can’t wait to see people I look up to as artists in the audience watching,” Lambert said Friday.

“I think that will be a trip, and exciting and motivating all at the same time.

“It will be really interesting to see what kind of reaction the number gets. It’s different. It really does have an edge to it.”

The performance also includes Lambert dragging a shackled woman across the stage.

Other artists set to perform at the 37th annual American Music Awards include Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston, Green Day, Lil’ Wayne, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Keith Urban, Jay-Z and Carrie Underwood.

Lambert, 27, recently insisted he’s just being himself with his “androgynous” look.

“Even on Idol, I wear my eyeliner and my black clothes, my little rocker outfits,” said the stylish star. “That’s just how I’ve always dressed over the past couple of years. You can label it however you want — androgynous, glam, emo, Goth. We can put a bunch of different labels on it but I’m just being myself.”

Aerosmith Star Tyler Back on Drugs?

Steven TylerSTEVEN Tyler’s bandmates fear he is taking drugs again.

The future of Aerosmith has been thrown into doubt after the singer said he wanted to take a year off to pursue a solo career, but the frontman’s bandmates are “suspicious” of his current behaviour.

“I suspect there’s a lot more going on than we know about,” said guitarist Brad Whitford. “He has a well-documented history of drug abuse, and I find myself very suspicious.

“I haven’t seen him do this or have any personal knowledge, but the isolation is very typical of addictive behavior, and his – what I call — irrational behavior.”

Drummer Joey Kramer also urged 61-year-old Steven — whose daughter is Hollywood actress Liv Tyler – to seek help and “get healthy”.

“Steven has made some poor choices as of late,” Joe said, “and he’s got some bad influences around him, and I think that for the most part he’s his own worst enemy. I just really hope that Steven puts the focus on Steven and gets healthy.”

A spokesperson for the Crazy singer — who gave up heroin after completing a stint in rehab in 1986 — is not commenting on the drug claims and insists Steven is busy writing a book.

Rihanna ‘Wanted to be a Rock Chick’

RihannaRIHANNA planned to make an album full of rock songs — until her record label got involved.

The Russian Roulette singer — who performed to a packed crowd, which included me, at London’s Brixton Academy on Monday — apparently wanted her new album, Rated R, to be a heavy metal record — but her bosses persuaded her down a different musical route.

“I’ve been asked to play with pop artists in the past but turned them down because they didn’t really get the vibe,” said Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, who performed with Rihanna at her Lodnon show.

“But when I spoke to Rihanna she was totally into transforming herself into a heavy rock chick.

“She was listening to Led Zeppelin and new acts like Paramore and said that was the direction she wanted to go, so I said yes.

“I think the label had a seizure, so they went down another route.”

Katy Perry: ‘I Don’t Try to be Scandalous!’

Katy PerryPOPSTREL Katy Perry insists she never meant for her songs to be scandalous.

The Waking up in Vegas hitmaker — who’s currently dating British comedian Russell Brand – says she tries to write tracks which express how she sees the world.

“I think the I Kissed A Girls and the Ur So Gays were never, ‘Oh, let’s see how I can stir up a pot of scandalous’,” Perry told the Associated Press. “It was actually just me telling my story and that is how I see the world, you know, and that’s the kind of funny, messed-up way I live my life, I guess.

“With a dark undertone, a sarcastic dark undertone, just everything is kind of that way for me and so I’m sure that’ll be a thread in my next record.

“I guess in my personal life and in interviews and when I sit down to talk about things, sometimes I don’t give as much detail as I used to but I think I am saving it for the songs – and the songs I’m just gushing.

“From the few songs that I’ve written so far, they are very honest, if not more honest, than the last ones. But they are a little bit more mature.”

Norah Jones Says She Almost Quit Music

Norah JonesSINGER Norah Jones has revealed how she almost quit music.

The star says she was prepared to give up on her dreams of becoming a star while struggling in New York as a waitress before she went on to sell more than 10 million copies of her debut album Come Away With Me.

“I’d gained weight — waiting tables, I was eating a lot of corn muffins and I didn’t know they were filled with butter. I felt fat, I felt gross,” she said.

“I called my mom crying and said I wanted to go back to Texas. But my mom said, you know, you’ve only been there six months; at least give it a full year.”

Norah, 30, then spoke about her smooching scene with Jude Law when they shot the 2007 film My Blueberry Nights.

“Having Jude Law licking my face for three days solid was a surreal experience,” she said. “He kissed me about 90 times. There are worse ways to spend your day.”

Norah’s fourth studio album, The Fall, hits stores November 17. That’s today!

Since coming on the scene in 2002, Jones has sold a collective 36 million albums worldwide.

Rihanna Inspired by London

RihannaWHERE does Rihanna go when she needs some inspiration?

London, of course!

The Umbrella singer says she wrote most of her new album, Rated R, while she was in the British capital.

“We made a lot of the album in London,” she said. “We took two big trips there and spent some time just figuring out the record. London is one of my favorite cities, it’s where I get most of my creative energy.”

Rihanna, 21, has penned song Cold Case Love about the evening boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her after a pre-Grammys party.

“It was one of the first songs I did for the album and it is one of the most emotional,” she said.

“When I was given time off in March it was a little crazy. Being at home was driving me mad. I couldn’t go anywhere. It was, like, ‘Look at the poor victim!’ So I called my label and said, ‘I’m ready.’”

Bon Jovi Played Trumpet in High School

Jon Bon JoviROCKER Jon Bon Jovi has an embarrassing confession — he played a “little trumpet” and was in a marching band during high school.

The It’s My Life hitmaker, 47, made the startling revelation during a recent interview on US TV show Inside The Actors Studio.

“I played a little trumpet in high school and [I was] in a marching band… Sexiest rock star in the world right there,” he said.

Even Bon Jovi’s longtime songwriting partner Richie Sambora was unaware of his bandmate’s geeky past.

“I’ve known the guy for 27 years; I didn’t know he was in a marching band,” Sambora said.

Meanwhile, Jon has vowed not to end the band’s upcoming 14-date London residency — which was extended due to popular demand from the original planned five shows.

“We are psyched about playing The O2, we put up the first ones and they sold out in days so looks like we’ll be staying for a while,” he told the UK’s BBC Radio 1. “And we’ll stay until people get sick of us and we’ll go back to America.

“I’m happy to play live, it’s the rest of it that stinks, the travelling, but the playing is good.

“It is nice doing the new material, as you build up, you do TV shows and things so this is the first time we’ve really played it, it’s about remembering the right chords and stuff instead of just mugging it for a television camera. It feels really good, I can imagine what it will sound like in a big stadium.”

Darius Rucker Surprised by Success of Debut Country Album

Darius RuckerDARIUS Rucker admits the success of his debut country album has taken him by surprise.

The Hootie and the Blowfish frontman –  who has sold 1 million copies of his Learn to Live record– took home the prestigious New Artist Of The Year gong at last week’s CMA Awards.

“I didn’t think it would do this,” Rucker told CMT. “Best-case scenario for me was maybe our third single, we could get into Top 10. Then they’d let me make another record and then we could see what we could do.

“When I was making this record, I wasn’t thinking about it working or not working. I was really making the record for me, and then Capitol came along. … If it didn’t work, it was no big deal to them. Capitol has a lot of bands, and for me, I would have been happy because they let me make my record. Now I’m going to make a lot more records because of this, and that’s a pretty cool thing.”

“I can’t tell you how much this ride has been enjoyed, just making the record and how much fun I had doing that,” he added.

“I had so much fun on the radio tour, and now to be standing here a year later, I got a CMA Award. The acceptance is unbelievable. It’s really amazing how much country radio really said, ‘Hey, man, we’re going to give you a shot.’ And they did. I’m a country singer now. This is my day job. This is what I do.

“Probably the thing I will remember the most about winning this award is when I walked up to Zac Brown and I hugged him, and he said, ‘Man, you deserve it.’ From the time we called Vince Gill and asked him to sing or the time we called Brad Paisley and asked him to play, everybody’s been such a champion of this record for me, especially the artists. Before this record ever came out, I would be in Nashville working and somebody would come up to me and say, ‘Brad Paisley just told me he heard four or five songs from your record and [said] it’s incredible.’ I’d be like, ‘Wow.’ It’s so great in country music because it seems like everybody realizes that there’s room for all of us. As long as you’re good, there’s room for you. That’s just cool to be a part of that.”
