After all the recent weirdness with Tim Burton and the Beetlejuice 2 rumors, a brand new trailer for his most recent worked on film “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” set to hit theaters September 30th 2016 has just hit the web.
Taken from Ransom Riggs’ 2011 best selling novel, the movie tells the story of a 16 year old boy named Jacob Portman (played by Ender’s Game’s Asa Butterfield) whose morbid curiosity is piqued after his grandfather is murdered by a mysterious magical creature. Following a beautiful blonde girl for whom gravity does not function named Emma (played by Ella Purnell) down to a sunken ship, Jacob discovers a portal back in time to the 1940s, where the schoolmarm named Miss Peregrine (played by Eva Green) runs an orphanage for kids with magical powers (kind of reminds you of the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters). Our hero, naturally, turns out to be one of the main characters that goes on to protect the gifted students from evil. However, no details on his special gift(s) have been provided.
The trailer is jam packed with beautiful design, endearingly morbid students as one girl eats her food with razor sharp teeth through a mouth on the back of her neck, showing the director’s signature love of outsiders and weird peeps. Miss Peregrine tells Jacob in the clip: “Because our abilities don’t fit in the outside world, we live in places like this, where no one can find us.” But it seems like there is something evil in the air that was able to find the children after all, and now it’s up to Jacob to save the school and protect their way of life.
This looks like it will be a great film, especially for fans of director Tim Burton who we must admit is one of our favorites!
