After only a day since being announced the divorce of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard rumors have been running rampant. Here is what ShowbizSpy knows for sure so far…
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met while filming The Rum Diary movie, and then began dating seriously in 2012. The couple became officially engaged in 2014, and then went on to marry in 2015. The couple that is 22 years apart in age held two weddings. They first tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Los Angeles, and then had a larger affair on Depp’s private island in the Bahamas surrounded by some very close friends of the power celeb.
In a Marie Claire interview published just last November, Heard hit back at claims of marital strife, and called becoming a stepparent to Depp’s two children “one of the best gifts” she had received”. Still, their first year of marriage was not without some major drama. The now “former” couple infamously had a dust-up with the Australian government after bringing their two dogs into the country without proper documentation and quarantining, despite knowing the laws in place.
Though she faced up to 10 years in prison for the alleged dog smuggling scandal, Heard said last December she would plead not guilty. That changed this past April, with she and Depp filming a formal apology video, at the request of the government to drop charges and create public awareness. Now just weeks later, and 15 months after they wed, she has filed for divorce siting irreconcilable differences.
Heard’s petition, which was filed in L.A. where they had legally married on Monday, had a separation date of May 22 listed on the documents, the same day Depp attended the premiere of his new movie, Alice Through The Looking Glass. The legal document also notes they had no prenuptial agreement, and further calls for a very large spousal support amount to continue.
Depp filed his own divorce papers in response to Heard’s petition, and asked that her request for spousal support be denied due to the short term of the marriage. Depp’s camp is putting the blame of the divorce on Amber and her “alleged” inability to get along with his family, specifically being claimed that Heard did not mesh with Depp’s two kids, his mother, and his two sisters. There was rumors mentioned several times, that even though in the public Amber was saying she was so pleased to help take care of the kids, in private she did not want to lift a finger to help. Depp’s mom had said before she passed away that the “witch” was using her son for fame and riches, and had no true love for her son.
An official statement from Depp’s rep said: “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
By the rep mentioning “Dissolution of marriage” and the fact that Depp’s attorneys are requesting that he pays nothing in spousal support, it looks as though Depp realizes his mistake and is going to do everything in his power to not get screwed by the California court system that has been known to “give away the farm” to gold diggers. Not saying Amber is one, but by requesting such a large amount after only a short time together is appears that way.
Depp and Heard have been radio silent to this point under the direction of their attorneys.
Amber is also claiming that Depp was very abusive in the relationship, and has now filed a restraining order. Her attorneys recently posted photos of her supposedly getting her ass kicked by Depp to People Magazine:

We have no idea what side to take here, we have loved Johnny for many many years and thought the entire relationship with Amber was a bit weird. We just don’t know what to say yet. What do you guys think about this mess? Let us know in the comments below.
